Custom sessions and mini sessions – what’s the difference?

autumn-mini-sessions-2

I offer 2 types of family photo shoots; custom sessions and mini sessions. Below is an explanation of both so you can decide which type of session is best for your family:

Custom Sessions
These are bespoke photo sessions for families. I take on a limited amount a month (around 5 sessions) so that I can provide you with fantastic customer service. The session fee is £240 weekdays and £290 weekends & school holidays. This is to cover my time and travel on the day of the shoot, and the time I spend digitally perfecting your images for your gallery after the shoot. It doesn’t include any prints or digital files. We chat on the phone before the session so I can find out all about your family and we can decide on a location that suits your family perfectly. Then the session itself lasts around 60-90 minutes, but there is no real time limit, so if your little ones take a long time to warm up then I’m not going to stop shooting just as they do!

You will have around 40-50 fully edited images in your gallery. Most families spend between £1200-£2500 on custom sessions (including the session fee) which provides them with a good selection of products. Gift prints are only available with the purchase of another product.

A custom session is perfect for you if you want a bespoke service from start to finish, and are looking to purchase beautiful products to put on your wall or stunning albums to have as heirlooms in your family.

Mini sessions
I run around 5 different mini session mornings throughout the year, on specific dates and in locations that I have chosen. For example in the autumn leaves, the lavender fields or daffodils. I photograph 4 different families during the morning and the mini sessions are limited to 20-25 minutes in length.

They are only for families with up to 2 children, so if you have 3 or more children you need to book a custom session so I have time to do your lovely big family justice! The limited shooting time also means the sessions aren’t suitable if you have children who are very shy, or a little hard to tame! The price for a mini session is around £300 which includes the session and 4 gift prints and the same 4 high resolution images on USB, so this offers fantastic value for money. (The normal price for this would over £700)

A mini session is perfect for you if you want to try out lifestyle photography for the first time or you just want to update a few frames around the house or have digital images to create your own products.

I hope that helps you decide which session is right for your family. The mini session slots do tend to book up very quickly, so keep an eye on my blog for new dates or sign up to my newsletter at the bottom of the page to be the first to hear about new mini session mornings.
