Well thank you 2012, it’s been another great year for me and my business. I’m not going to do a full on review of the year like I usually do (here are my year reviews in 2010 and 2011) instead I want to focus on the important things and say some well-deserved thank yous.
Firstly, I want to thank all of the wonderful families who chose me to step into their lives for an hour or 2 and capture their families’ memories, it truly is an honour. It’s been lovely to see so many of the same families again and see your children growing up.
Thank you to all of the people who have attended one of my photography workshops. This year I’ve taught over 100 people how to take fantastic photos of their children growing up. That fills me with a lot of pride and satisfaction.
A massive thank you to my wonderful husband Karl, who never (well, rarely!) moans when I’m off shooting or running workshops every Saturday, and sitting at my desk most evenings. I’m so lucky to have him. Thank you to my amazing little boys who get under my feet and into my heart every single day. Thank you to my lovely mum who still does a 130 mile round trip every Wednesday to look after the boys. She’s been doing a 12 hour day for me every week for 5 years now and I can’t thank her enough.
Thank you to all of my friends who have been a great support ever since I set up my business (nearly 5 year ago now) and continue to tell their friends about my work, I really do appreciate it. Thank you to all of the other photographers who read my blog (and sometimes send me lovely emails!) and to everyone else who has taken an interest in my work. I truly appreciate all of the support and the lovely feedback you have given me throughout the year. And lastly, thank you to the wonderful friends I have made through the photography industry. I used to find it a bit lonely working for myself, as there are long hours sat in front of a computer alone. But now I have a wonderful network of ladies who I chat to every day, and I love the supportive network we have. Thank you girls, you know who you are.
I know this is already sounding like an Oscar acceptance speech so I’ll stop now and leave you with some of the happy faces I’ve photographed this year. I didn’t even attempt to pick out my favourites from the year as I’d find it too hard. Instead I have chosen some photos I’ve taken this year which have made me smile…I hope they have the same effect on you!
