A weekend away with fellow family photographers

In a recent blog post I mentioned that I was going away with a lovely group of family photographers for the weekend. We all met on a workshop last year and bonded straight away. It can be a little lonely sometimes working for yourself, so it’s always great to meet up with other mums who run their own businesses and totally understand the juggling and sacrifices us working mums make! And because these ladies are all photographers too, I could geek out over the capabilities of the Canon 5d mark iii without anyone falling asleep on me!

We stayed in a beautiful cottage in Wiltshire and the weather was really kind to us. We spent the weekend talking photography, business, kids and also taking some lovely new headshots of each other. On the afternoon that we had decided to do our shoots, we had some beautiful golden light to work with…bliss!

Here are some of the headshots of the ladies that I took in the garden. Below are Gisela Olsen, Abby Wilkes and Sarah Thomas.

On the drive there I had spotted some dis-used land with long grass in it (which always photographs beautifully!) So for the second part of the shoot we headed over there to catch the last of the sun. Below are Siobhan Murphy, Kay Young, Nadia Swindell and Eddie Judd.

And of course I had loads of photos taken of me too. It was so useful to see how it feels on the other side of the camera. Especially being photographed by 7 photographers with different styles. It’s only fair that I share one or two of me on here as well! Here is one that Nadia took of me.

And you can see another shot taken by Eddie on my ‘about me’ page.

Just before we left to go home, we had a giggle playing with the self-timer on my camera and getting some fun shots of all of us together.

Thanks for a brilliant weekend girls…I came back feeling like I had properly recharged my batteries!

I have a rather different weekend ahead…I will be walking round the streets of London in the early hours of Sunday morning in my bra (and no it’s not at the end of a night out!) I am doing the London Moonwalk 2013 with some friends in aid of breast cancer. I would love you to sponsor me….it will help me carry on when every part of my body is telling me to go to bed! Here is my sponsorship page.

Thank you in advance and I’ll let you know how I get on!

Gorgeous pics Vicki. Good luck with the Moonwalk. I did it a few years ago and it was an amazing atmosphere. x
