I hope you were ok in the snow last week. I’m personally glad it’s gone, I love it for about an hour of sledging time, then the disruption to everything just gets annoying. Why is it other countries can function with 6 ft of snow, yet a few inches and the UK comes to a standstill?!
I was very lucky last month that I got to escape the English winter for a few days and head over to the beautiful Amelia Island in Florida. I went to a photography convention called Click Away with my good friend, and podcast co-host Eddie Judd.
Even though I’ve been in business for 10 years now, I think it’s so important that we never stop learning. It’s always beneficial to hear how others run their businesses, and to see the different shooting techniques that they use. We went to some brilliant photography talks and also did some dreamy shoots on the beach and in the grounds of the hotel.
The thing I loved the most though was meeting some really wonderful people. We interviewed a few photographers out there for our podcast Shoot Edit Chat Repeat and spent most of our spare time chatting to other photographers which was just lovely. I came home with lots of lovely memories, some new friends and a memory card full of golden light and beautiful families!
Here are some of the photos I took on the beach shoot organised by the lovely Ashley Berrie. I so wish we had that gorgeous light over here all of the time! It has made me want to do more shoots on West Wittering beach…it’s only an hour from me and is a stunning beach.
What a beautiful family! And they were such good sports as it did start getting a little chilly as the sun set but the children never moaned! I’m not the biggest fan of group shoots, especially as there were about 25 of us shooting at the same time so it’s tricky to get the right angle. But with this family and location it was well worth it!
I run group shoots at my Delight Retreat that I run for professional photographers once a year, so it was great to be on the other side of it and just be shooting for fun and taking it all in.
And here are some photos from another shoot I did in the plantation grounds, organised by Dana Leigh. How beautiful are these sisters!
Here are a couple of iPhone photos of me, thought you might like to see a behind the scenes photo of me shooting on the beach, thanks to Eddie for taking this.
I hope you’ve enjoyed looking through a few of my photos, and that they’ve made you remember what warm sunny weather feels like!
Have a great week,
