Photographer and personal brand strategist. I'm on a mission to help you get visible in your business with genuine confidence.

Meet Vicki

You know why you need to get visible (and if you don’t, take a look at this blog post) but are you feeling stuck when it comes to creating content for your business? Are you lacking inspiration?

In this blog post, I’m talking about how brand photography can help you get visible and grow your business.

And because blog posts are always more interesting with images, I’m going to be sharing the photos from the branding shoot I did with acupuncturist and fertility expert, Hannah Pearn. I loved Hannah’s shoot and the images are brimming with personality, so it’s they are ideal to bring this blog post to life and inspire you to get your own branding photos taken.

Don’t you just love that yellow door!

So here are the 5 ways that branding photography can help you to get visible and grow your business:

You know that people buy from people, and you’re the only one who does what you do, in the way that you do it!

Creating compelling brand photography is essential for making your online presence truly memorable. It’s not just about showcasing your products or services; it’s about conveying the essence of your brand. Authenticity is key, and engaging visuals can capture the attention of your audience, making them curious about the story behind your brand. To enhance your brand’s visibility, consider incorporating personality-filled photos that resonate with your target audience. These images can not only make your website stand out but also compel viewers to linger longer on your social media feeds.

It can be tough to convey your individual style and character through words alone. That’s where brand photos come in. By having a set of on-brand photos that capture your personality and style, you’ll be able to show off the real you. Whether you’re an artist showing off amazing work or a coach sharing your infectious positivity, brand photography can help you stand out from the crowd and make a lasting impression on your audience.

A good branding photographer will find out all about you before the shoot so that your photos demonstrate exactly who you are and act as a magnet to your dream clients – from the location, the backdrops, the light, your clothes, the props and the angles and expressions. (See my post here about how to choose the right brand photographer for you).

Taking a few selfies with your phone might seem like an easy and free solution to getting photos for your business. But let’s be honest – they’re not going to cut it when it comes to creating a truly professional and elevated brand.

I know it can be tempting to try and DIY your photos, but your branding and imagery is somewhere you really don’t want to be cutting corners. Professional branding photos really do make a huge difference. By using your brand photos across your website and social media platforms, it helps to create a consistent and instantly recognisable personal brand.

Just see the difference in these photos of business strategist, Helen Munshi. On the left was a phone photo that Helen was using on her website before her shoot with me, and on the right is one of the images from her shoot. This shows just how much having professional photos can elevate your brand.

You could have the most gorgeous visual identity and powerful words on your website, but if you just have some DIY selfies on there, it’s not going to have the impact that you need.

By investing in a brand photo shoot, you’re showing your potential clients that you take your business seriously. It demonstrates your belief in your brand and it’s longevity and it proves to your audience that you’re here to stay and make a lasting impact within your industry.

Look at these images I took of Hannah with her client in her acunpuncture practice. This gives her potential clients a really good idea of what it would be like to work with her. This couldn’t have been achieved with a few quick phone snaps!

Ever had that feeling where your scrambling around for something to post on social media but you just can’t find anything? When you have a gorgeous set of branding photos at your fingertips, it makes content creation so much easier.

And now you can remove backgrounds easily in Canva to create your own marketing graphics, you can make your investment in brand photography go even further. Take a look at these Instagram posts from Clare at Studio 5 Social and from my Instagram page where we did exactly that.

Knowing that you have images of yourself that you’re proud to share, means that you’ll feel much more inspired to get content out there and get visible in your business.

According to a study republished by Forbes, 90% of the information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visual content is processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than text.  This goes to show just how powerful visual content can be in conveying a message and making an impact on your audience. One of the reasons I included images in this blog post!

If you are looking to be a guest on podcasts or write articles for magazines, having professional branding photos is a must-have. As a co-host of a top photography podcast for 5 years, I can attest that the quality of a guest’s branding photos often influenced our decision to invite them for an interview. As a guest, your photo will often appear podcast episode’s graphic, so it’s crucial that it looks polished, as it reflects on the podcast’s brand as well as your own.

When you pitch to a magazine to write an article, they are much more likely to accept your article if you have beautiful branding images to go alongside it. I once had a well-known fiction author book a shoot just before the release of a book, to avoid all of the press sending their own photography crew round to her house to photograph her. She achieved PR coverage everywhere from Vanity Fair to The Sunday Times as it was so easy for them just to use my images and the publications saved money not having to send their own photography team.

So, if you’re looking to get some PR for your business, investing in some brand photography that shows off your personality is a no-brainer.

I believe that this is arguably the most important point. Good branding photos will be the best photos you’ve ever seen of yourself. They will show you how you are, but the best version of you. You’ll feel proud and excited to share the photos with the world!

Even on those days when you’re not feeling your best, you’ll have a whole array of gorgeous images at your disposal to use on your social media and blog. With the right brand photos, you can confidently put yourself out there and let your unique personality and brand shine!
