Photographer and personal brand strategist. I'm on a mission to help you get visible in your business with genuine confidence.

Meet Vicki

I recently created a visibility archetype quiz so I want to start this post by telling you why I created my visibility quiz in the first place.

What I’ve noticed in my work with thousands of business owners is that Visibility isn’t one-size-fits-all.

And the more closely I worked with business owners over recent years, the more obvious that became. Yes it would be much easier for me to just offer a blueprint, a template to help you be more visible – and lots of people do, but I know they don’t work.

What I noticed through my photography work, my coaching, my retreats, my mastermind, is patterns in the way people respond to visibility.

Because two people can do the same things online and have wildly different results. One feels aligned and confident. The other feels exposed, awkward, or like they’re performing. And that’s usually not about strategy being right or wrong.  It’s about how you’re wired to show up.

Some people have bursts of inspiration but struggle with consistency.
Some people struggle to find clarity on what they stand for and their messaging can feel all over the place
Some struggle with confidence and showing up as the face of their business.
Some are visible but struggling with being seen as an authority in their industry.

And I realised that giving everyone the same advice wasn’t actually that helpful. So I created this quiz, not as a gimmick, but as a way to make my advice more bespoke.  So you could see not just what to do next, but what’s actually holding you back.

What came out of that were four visibility archetypes.

Now, even if you’ve already taken the quiz, I really want you to read on, because I know we all love hearing deeper insight about ourselves. Over the years, I’ve noticed four very clear patterns. Four visibility archetypes.

And there’s a good chance that you resonate with more than one archetype – and most of us move between more than one of them depending on the season we’re in, our confidence levels, and what’s going on in our lives.

I definitely have resonated with all 4 of them in different stages of my business.
That’s completely normal. We’re not meant to fall into tidy little boxes, we’re complex humans and we change all of the time.

I’m going to walk you through each archetype, what’s really going on under the surface, and how it links to my SEEN framework:

  • Self-Discovery
  • Energy-Led Strategy
  • Express with Confidence
  • Named & Known

As I talk through these, I want you to notice what you relate to, but also what makes you slightly uncomfortable. That’s usually where the truth actually is.

THE PIONEER

If you got The Pioneer, first of all, you’re in a very small group. At the moment, this is only around 7% of quiz results which makes sense to me as we can’t all be pioneers. So if this is you, you are genuinely quite unique.

Pioneers are the people who are always looking for what’s next.

If there’s a new platform, You’re one of the first on it. If there’s a new strategy – you’re testing it

You’re curious, you’re driven, excitable, and you’re focused on the future. You’ve got big energy and big ideas and I love that for you! We all need these pioneers leading the way so we can see what’s possible.

But you also have very strong shiny magpie tendencies.

And what I see again and again with Pioneers is constant movement. New messaging. New offers. New direction. New rebrand.

Now, none of that is bad. In fact, your curiosity and willingness to experiment is one of your biggest strengths. But here’s where things often start to wobble.

When I talk about personal branding, I often use the analogy of a tree.

And Pioneers are brilliant at the visible parts of the tree.

The blossom. The leaves. The things that attract attention.

You’re focused on making it beautiful, exciting, eye-catching. But what often hasn’t had enough attention is the root system.

The clarity. The deep understanding of:
Who am I really?
What do I want to be known for?
What do I believe?
What do I stand for, consistently, underneath all these ideas?

So what happens is… the tree grows quickly. But the soil isn’t quite right. The roots aren’t deep enough yet.

And for a while, it looks great. But then the leaves start to wilt. Engagement drops. Motivation fades. You feel bored or disconnected.

So you plant another tree. Another idea. Another direction.

And over time, that can feel exhausting.

Your block isn’t confidence. It isn’t creativity. It isn’t visibility.

It’s clarity.

In the SEEN framework, this sits firmly in the first pillar Self-Discovery.

Slowing down long enough to really anchor into who you are and what you’re building, so your ideas have somewhere solid to grow from.

I’ve seen Pioneers transform when they finally pause and do this work.

Suddenly their messaging clicks.
Their content feels coherent.
People start saying, “Oh, I get what you do now.”

You don’t lose your spark by grounding yourself and getting clarity.
You sustain it.

THE INSPIRER
This currently has 26% of the results of my quiz and it’s the one I personally resonate with the most.

If you’re an Inspirer, you are driven by spontaneity. Inspirers are emotionally intelligent, thoughtful, and find it easy to inspire others. They’re brilliant at creating connection and warmth.

Content plans drain you of all inspiration and scheduling months in advance never really worked for you.

You have an idea and you want to share it now.

You’re intuitive. You’re emotionally led and You’re often quite cyclical.

There are times when you feel inspired, alive and at those times you are magnetic. And when you show up in those moments, people feel you. Your energy is contagious.

And then there are other times when you want to hide under a blanket and not speak to anyone at all.

That doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you. It’s just how you’re wired.

What Inspirers often assume is that their problem is confidence or discipline or commitment.

It isn’t.

You’re compelling and engaging and people want to hear from you.
You don’t need to be louder or more polished.

So Your challenge is rhythm.

Inspirers tend to show up in bursts.

Big energy. lots of content. Then… nothing.

Not because you’ve failed. But because you’ve burnt through your energy or lost interest.

And over time, that inconsistency can start to knock your confidence.

You might think:
“Why can’t I just stick to something?”
“Why do I always fall off?”

But the answer isn’t to force yourself into someone else’s strategy. It’s to build an rhythm that works with your nature, not against it.

This sits in the first E of SEEN: Energy-Led Strategy.

When Inspirers find a rhythm that honours their cycles, everything changes.

You stop burning out. You stop disappearing. You start trusting yourself again.

And your visibility becomes sustainable, not draining.

THE SAGE

The Sage is currently the most common result in my quiz with 45% of the results. And honestly, that doesn’t surprise me at all, because so many lovely people in my audience are Sages. If you’re a Sage you’re Thoughtful and wise. You’re Purpose-led. You think before you speak.

You care about nuance and notice things that other people miss.

And because you’re a genuinely lovely human, you often worry about adding to the noise or seeming arrogant. You also don’t want to over-simplify things and wonder how the hell you’re meant to deliver that insight in a 10 second Instagram reel.

You overthink because you care. You don’t want to dominate or shout or feel like you’re performing. And sometimes you think it’s a whole lot simpler to stay quiet.

And ironically, that’s exactly why we need to hear from you.

Sages often feel frustrated with visibility culture. It can feel shallow, rushed, and loud.

But the thing I want you to know is that depth without expression doesn’t help anyone.

I see Sages sitting on incredible insight because they don’t feel ‘ready’ yet. Or because they’re worried about being misunderstood.

And yes, nuance matters. But visibility doesn’t require you to say everything at once. It just asks you to start somewhere.

Now Sages often think their problem is clarity.

It’s not. You have so much clarity. Sometimes too much. You can sit in thinking and refining and sense-making for a very long time.

You don’t struggle with plans. You don’t struggle with consistency once you’ve decided.

Your block is expression.

Actually pressing publish and saying the thing and letting yourself be seen and heard.

This is the second E in SEEN: Express with Confidence.

And confidence here doesn’t mean bravado. It means trusting that your voice matters, even if it might be quieter or more thoughtful.

The world actually doesn’t need more noise. That’s for sure.

It needs more depth. And that’s what you bring.

THE LUMINARY.
This is currently 22% of the quiz results. And these are people who have already done a lot of the inner work.

You’ve found a rhythm.
You’re showing up consistently.
You’re sharing your thoughts.

You are visible. The Luminary has presence.

This is the person people naturally listen to. The room shifts slightly when they speak. There’s confidence here, but it’s not loud or forced.

But something still feels… stuck. You might be seen, but you’re not always being chosen.

Maybe you’re not being referred or remembered as much as you would like. You see someone with less experience than you get the work and opportunities that you wanted and it doesn’t seem fair. You’re not clearly known for the thing you most want to be known for.

People respect you. They like you. They trust you.

But are they buying from you?
Are they talking about you?
Are they naming you when you’re not in the room?

The challenge for Luminaries is that they don’t always realise they need to be more visible. They assume their work will speak for itself. Or they wait to be invited, chosen, recognised.

And sometimes that means their leadership is happening quietly, behind the scenes, rather than out loud where it could actually create change.

About letting yourself be seen as a leader, not just a contributor. This is the final pillar of SEEN: Named & Known.

And this is about stepping fully into thought leadership. Owning your expertise.

Letting yourself be positioned not just as a guide or a friend, but as the person for what you do.

This was a big shift for me personally. A few years ago, I realised I was still sitting very comfortably in the “likeable” category.

I wanted to be approachable and Friendly. The person that people said ‘oh she’s so nice’

And it was launching this podcast that really changed things for me.

It forced me to articulate my thinking, to stand by my opinions and to be seen as someone with authority in the visibility space.

Because visibility without recognition and sales can feel incredibly frustrating.

So they’re the 4 visiblity archetypes and I’m sure one or maybe more had you nodding along. Most people don’t sit neatly in one of these.
You might feel like an Inspirer on Instagram, but a Sage in your work when it comes to pitching yourself to others or selling your work.

The question isn’t “Which one do I like the sound of?” It’s “Which one is driving my decisions right now?”

Because that’s what shapes:

  • how consistent you are,
  • what you avoid,
  • where visibility feels easy or exhausting.

And that’s why I didn’t create this quiz to label you. But to give you clarity on your dominant visibility style right now, the blind spots that come with it, and how to work with it instead of forcing yourself into someone else’s strategy.

Take the quiz and find out the way you’re wired to show up in your business.

I hope you find the results useful and that they help you understand the way that your designed to show up – like it did for these business owners below.
