Hey there old friend, I know it’s been a while.

I really have no idea how I used to find time to blog 3 times a week, every single week. I guess that was before the days of Instagram where it’s just so much quicker to post a few more photos on there!

So how have you been? We had an epic road trip around California over the Easter holidays, we absolutely loved it! Our boys are now 11 and nearly 9, so they were brilliant ages for everything we did, from Disney to the desert and lots in between!

I booked a photographer for our own family while we were there. We got the photos back this week and I’m so happy with them. You can see them here on my Facebook page.

Like many mums, I always seem to have excuses as to why I don’t book a photo shoot (need to lose weight, wait for son’s teeth to grow back blah blah blah) but I’ve realised the best time to have a shoot is always now. I’ve never regretted taking a photo or having a photo shoot, but I have regretted not having photos taken.

That leads me nicely onto the shoot I want to share to you today. The photo shoot that I really regret never booking is a newborn shoot with either of my boys. I thought because I could take nice photos of them, that was all I needed. But I would love to look back at photos of those magical early days with both my husband and I in them too.

If you’re looking for a newborn photographer to take lots of posed shots of your baby on beanbags and with hats, then I’m not the photographer for you. (I can recommend some other photographers who do that beautifully). But if you’re looking for a photographer to capture the love, joy and connection of those special first few weeks, then I’m your girl!

The way I photograph newborns is the same as the way I photograph families of all ages; natural, expressive and beautiful. I was delighted to be invited to photograph this family a few weeks after they’d had their third gorgeous little girl.

Then it was time for the big sisters to get involved!

I know it’s these connected and everyday shots of the family that they will treasure forever.
