There are some shoots where you look back through the photos and can’t help but smile. And this one with Ali Bado-McDowall and Finn Prevett, the brilliant women behind The Positive Planner, is definitely one of them.

We headed to a gorgeous, light-filled studio in Battersea, London to create a whole new collection of branding images for The Positive Planner, as well as individual photos for Ali and Finn’s own businesses.

And as you can see, we weren’t exactly going for dull corporate headshots!

Creating brand photos full of colour and personality

The Positive Planner creates colourful planners and journals designed to support mental wellbeing, encourage reflection and help people feel better in their everyday lives.

So it was important that the photos reflected the personality of the brand.

We had lots of fun playing with different outfits, their colourful collection of planners and journals, and all the different areas of the studio.

From relaxed photos of Ali and Finn chatting together on the sofa to more playful images with their products, we created a collection of photos they could use across their website, social media and marketing.

And yes, there were even a few disco balls involved!

As well as photographing them together, we wanted to make sure both Ali and Finn came away with plenty of images they could use for their own businesses.

Because although they’re co-creators of The Positive Planner, they each have their own work and personalities to share with the world too.

Finn is also a business coach and mentor, helping people simplify their businesses and find a way of working that suits them, rather than getting caught up in the pressure of constant productivity.

Alongside The Positive Planner, Ali is a creative coach and ideas mentor, helping people bring their ideas to life. She also runs a networking community in Bath.

For Ali’s individual photos, we created a lovely mix of relaxed portraits, more polished images and photos of her with The Positive Planner journals. Watch the video below to see more of Ali’s photos.

One studio, so many different looks

One of my favourite things about this shoot was just how much variety we could create without leaving the studio.

With beautiful natural light, different seating areas, plants, textured walls and plenty of space to move around, we could make the photos feel quite different simply by changing outfits, locations and what Ali and Finn were doing.

And that’s always something I think about when planning a branding shoot.

It’s not just about getting a few lovely portraits. It’s about creating a useful collection of images that show different sides of you and your business, so you’ve got plenty to choose from when you’re showing up online.

And hopefully, photos you actually enjoy sharing!
