Meet Vicki

I posted some of my iPhone photos from our family trip to Singapore recently and I have now managed to process some of my ‘proper’ photos. I decided against taking my professional kit with me, as I knew I’d be worrying about it getting damaged the whole time, especially as I had a shoot a few days after we got back. So instead I took my ‘play’ kit with me that I use for family trips and holidays. This consists of a Canon 400d camera and 2 lenses…the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 and the Canon 50mm F1.8 (this is the lens I always recommend in my workshops as it’s great for portraits and very reasonable).

So these photos aren’t perfect or up to the standard I would deliver to my clients…. I never spend as long editing my own family photos as I do my clients (I would never get away from my computer if I did!). But I do love them as they bring back wonderful memories of our trip.

Here are some shots of the first few days we spent at our friends’ Simon and Sarah’s apartment and their lovely 3 month old Dexter. At first our little boy was very wary of their 2 dogs, but by the end he was chasing them everywhere, trying to kiss them and pull their tails. I think the dogs were probably quite pleased to see the back of us after 4 days!

And here are some shots of the fantastic day we spent at Singapore Zoo. It’s by far the best zoo I’ve ever been too, the boys absolutely loved it. Thanks Lizzie for taking the photos of us riding the elephant!

After 4 days in Singapore we got the ferry over to to the Indonesian island, Bintan. Although it’s a different country, it’s only a 45 minute ferry trip from Singapore so a bit like us driving down to Brighton for the day! As you can see I was a bit obsessed with this orange wall that was in our hotel room….

I did a little shoot with the boys on the beach but I’ll share the photos from that in a separate post (if I’m honest I haven’t been through them yet…I took a LOT of shots!)

Then we stayed at our friends’ apartment in Singapore for the last 4 days of our trip. It is on 13th floor of a condo and has a fantastic view over the city. Although it was totally safe for S to stand against the glass walls on the balcony, I never felt comfortable watching him do it (and I think he knew that which made him do it even more!)

And here are some shots I took of my best bud Lizzie and her gorgeous 4 months old.

Thank you to our wonderful friends for letting us stay in your lovely homes and giving us such amazing memories to look back on; we really did have the best time.
